Everything But the Kitchen Sink

Our next show is “Everything but the Kitchen Sink.” All entries are due on March 26th. any subject, any size, any medium, just no kitchen sinks…got it? Good.

Now get crack-a-lackin’ on some art!

“Evolve” Call for Entries!

All right people, we are looking for your art…and we’re willing to give you cash for it!

62 Doors Gallery and Minot State University are celebrating Darwin Day 2011. How does an art gallery celebrate Charles Darwin, you might ask? Well, by having a jurored art show, obviously. What better way to celebrate the creator of the concept “survival of the fittest” than by bringing in a judge to juror out the riff-raff and award the outstanding artists among the herd. Tom Fleming, big-time professional illustrator, will be sharing his expertise by choosing the winners and awarding the cash.

So, we need you to bring in art based on the theme “Evolve: What does evolution mean to you?” We need you to interpret the word “evolve” on canvas, paper, wood, or whatever and bring it to us by February 5th. Now…this doesn’t have to be science-y art, just evolve-y art. Don’t feel like you have to plaster Charles’ photo all over your painting, or dinosaurs or monkeys……just make art related to the word “evolve”…….and make it better than everyone else’s.

The artworks chosen for the show will be on display at the  MSU Beaver Dam during the Darwin Day Celebration on February 11th. Then it will be shown at the closing reception at 62 Doors that evening starting at 7 pm. All awards will be announced at the reception.

Here’s the nitty-gritty:
• We will accept only 2D media (painting, photos, drawings, prints, etc.)
• All artworks must be professionally presented (framed, matted, etc.) and ready to hang
• Artworks must be smaller than 4′x4′
• Unlimited entries for $5 per artist – Bring all entries to 62 Doors Gallery (11B S Main St) by February 5, 2011.
• 62 Doors Gallery is open on Thu, Fri, & Sat from 1 pm-6 pm

It’s beginning to look a lot like…

That’s right, the holiday shopping season is upon us, and what better place to find that perfect gift than at 62 Doors?

We’re holding our annual Craftastic Artstravaganza on Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27 from 10 am to 6 pm each day. No need to fight the crazies at 5 am on Black Friday – sleep in, eat some turkey waffles and drink your cup o’ hot gravy, then head on down to 62 Doors to be amazed by the awesome selection of unique art, jewelry, books, knits and more…all created by local artists and affordably priced. Then, come back on Saturday to pick up something for yourself (hey, you deserve it) or just come for a visit because you miss us. We’ll even do our best to spread some Christmas cheer, and if you’re lucky, Ben might just do a jolly little dance for you.

Art in the Dark Returns!

Come On Down…We’ve Got Art For Sale at 62 Doors!

Holy Crap.  Now is your opportunity to be a part of something big.  Like, do you ever find yourself sitting at home during the late morning, watching The Price is Right just wishing that you could be there and you would be lucky enough to be called down to be a contestant, but you really wish that Bob Barker was still the host because he was a silver fox and you don’t know how you feel about Drew Carey yet?  Well, wish no more.  Because we’ve got something better than that.

We would like you to be the next contestant at the 62 Doors Gallery & Studios Art For Sale show!  Other than sharing graphics and a font from TPIR, there really is nothing else in common with it.  Because this is a show where everything is for sale.  All of our artists have contributed wonderful artworks for the masses to purchase – there’s nothing for free.  Nope, you ain’t getting nothing if you ain’t payin’ for it.

But let me tell you, there is a ton of art goodness just waiting for you to purchase – don’t be late, the sale ends as soon as the art is gone!

  • When: Sale Starts Friday August 20th
  • Time: Thursday – Saturday 12-6PM
  • Where: 62 Doors Gallery & Studios/11B South Main Street

Fashion Show :: June 26

Next up:  A Fashion Show put on by those lovely ladies from Minot Fashion Week!
Saturday, June 26. Doors open at 9 pm. This will be exhibit style rather than a catwalk show, but it will be up for ONE NIGHT ONLY! There’s a new twist to the designs this time and it’s gonna be great.
P.S. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 with all proceeds going to our good friends at Pangea House!

We’ll be seeing you on Saturday, June 12, right?

It’s looking like it’s going to be 70 and sunny on Saturday…perfect weather for wandering downtown and checking out Open Studio Saturday! Hanging out sipping on some coffee, eating some cookies, and chatting with some artists. Can’t think of anything more fun than that…unless it’s Game Night with drinks and games galore for only $5 (+21 of course)!

We promise we won’t bite.

Our artists are hard at work cleaning up our studios because every Saturday in June is Open Studio Saturday! Stop down to see artists at work, buy art & crafts, or just to be nosy and see what secrets our studios really hold. Oh, and be sure to check out the gallery exhibit while you’re here! Hours: 1 pm-6 pm.
